If your commander has "Choose a background", you can use one background as a secondary commander, giving you access to its color. The deck can take heavy targeting and still feel functional most of the time. Least fun to play: The opposite. Downside is that it is definitely not big on Combos or Stax but the colours you get are about as good as it gets for interaction. I know Korvold all too well, we have a regular in my playgroup and he will play it occasionally. This also ensures you draw more gas in the late game and less lands. Edit. Commander / EDH rvancetal. Ie I play a cedh sisay list that has around 15 or so different combos and am able to dodge any and all stax pieces by switching the one i go for. His ability is great. Hes so hard to get rid of and doesnt even give opponents an opening to counterspell him. His deck is full of expensive to cast creatures. The clones make it super flexible, and the deck kind of scales up or down with the power level of the table. Purphoros lets me cheat huge beaters into play which have no business being on the field so early in mono red, plus he's hard to get rid of. Aside from that though I've gotta say my [[Scorpio God]] deck is also resilient as hell. Purphoros 1.0, Beastmasters ascension, Triumph of the horde/Return of the wildspeaker.lots of very compartmentalized ways to win, without even delving into his combos. +1 for Liesa. norin the wary - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) Karador Boonweaver, Prossh Food Chain, Animar (can't remember the name of his combo, but results in a giant unstoppable Animar in one turn), Derevi Stax, super tuned Narset, EDIT: Ancestral Animar, link to deck in comments below. Landfall decks' resiliency comes from the fact that lands just don't really get interacted with in commander or at least not in a meaningfully enough way to shut down a landfall player. I have been thinking about some reanimator ideas I really like the idea of a mono black reanimator deck just because I love black so much, don't know if I would go with, [QUOTE=frodooftheshire;/comments/12738571]I have been thinking about some reanimator ideas I really like the idea of a mono black reanimator deck just because I love black so much, don't know if I would go with, Most resilient decks to control/sweeper decks, What I have been working For ~Super Friends~, Perfectly Suited to Mindless Carnage, Thraximundar, Ockham's Mindrazer = Nekusar the Mindrazer, Marchsea makes all the Men do Stupid Things, Army of the Heavens, Lead by the Angel of Hope, Daxos is Enchanting Enchantments to Enchant more Enchants, I got 99 Permanents but Primal Surge ain't One, Ruric Thar, Wifey's Wrath - Gisela Blade of Goldnight. Henzie Toolbox Torre - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) These mill / dredge commanders can be fun, and they have some new tools in Angel of Suffering and Cemetery Tampering. For example, [[Wilson, Refined Grizzly]] can be a [[Folk Hero]] and play with white, or an [[Agent of the Shadow Thieves]] and play with black. The literal and graphical information presented on this site about Magic: The Gathering, including card images, the mana symbols, and Oracle text, is copyright Wizards of the Coast . My favourite is what has been dubbed "dishonest beatdown", in which you control the game with removal, counters, etc on cheap creatures who can occasionally ramp you with hit triggers. Making it so those two can just never pay it was a big design mistake. Then load Derevi with value generating swords and evasion and beat your foes to death. I have a fondness for bird card art that are just like oil paintings of regular ass looking birds. Discard focused commanders; often times mono black. Mimeo and Jarad are fairly resilient, HD Sidisi is not. Inbuilt hexproof, and anti-sac protection for your board (one of 3 things that does this), it's a harder creature to remove. Dargo in its own right is very easy to cast as long as you get some fuel for it. [[Torgaar, famine incarnate]] serves as a second dargo option and the deck probably should have an [[anger]] in it since getting him in the yard is pretty easy, Torgaar, famine incarnate - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) A hasty boi who never loses his counters. Sorry. Sigarda, Host of Herons - (G) (MC)[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call. Would be interesting to hear what people think. Its not high power but it's full of recursive creatures and has great card draw so it feels impossible to ever get completely shut down. Sadly he can't brew or look at Edhrec without remembering works and getting real bad about it. Definitely one of my favorites and much more table-friendly than Dargo+[[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]], Dargo - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) Is there any other commanders that you think fit this same kind of feeling for a commander? This site works best with JavaScript enabled. Im surprised about this not coming up sooner also. Yuriko - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) He's extremely tough to remove because you can bounce him to your hand at instant speed for 0 mana, so Commander Tax is unlikely to be a factor. My play group is very high power and generally anything goes with combos, stax, etc. Obstensibly hard to remove and good usually leads people to talk about [[Sigarda, Host of Herons]] and [[Derevi, Empyrial Tactician]]. I'm sure you could build it somewhat Staxy or as a combo deck (considering you have Simic which tends to get a bit silly on its own) but honestly just having a constantly threatening commander swinging with wildly unpredictable abilities thanks to mutate is pretty damn fun. I'd say it's a three way tie between [[Braids, Arisen Nightmare]], [[Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded]] and [[God-Eternal Oketra]]. Derevi - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER) Thanks. [[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call, Comes back with such a great vengeance I even kill him myself to get those tokens to trigger [[impact tremors]] or [[parallel lives]], I can tell you the opposite of a resilient commander. [[Izoni, Thousand-Eyed]] is kinda a weird commander where you don't mind her getting killed? [[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call, Marchesa clones is really fun, and pretty resilient. And the deck doesnt care if he gets killed a few times. He pays his commander tax back with a reduction in blitz, and ever blitzed creature replaces itself so its difficult to run out of gas. Pretty much any of the gods are great if you're trying to run a deck where you slap a commander down and don't worry about it for the rest of the game. I would be left without a decent blocker and having to recast henzie and then play a bigger creature felt like I would get farther behind on closing the game. [[Norin, the Wary]].
